The Eastern Gateway scheme

Details of the design and construction of the Eastern Gateway scheme, Crawley.

The Eastern Gateway scheme is one of the identified projects within the Crawley Growth Programme.

It is a £8.85 million scheme which will deliver better public space and connectivity improvements to support key development opportunities at the Town Hall, County Buildings, Telford Place and Crawley College.

The scheme covers the eastern half of The Boulevard, Exchange Road, the southern end of Northgate Avenue, College Road (including the roundabout), Southgate Avenue, up to and including the junction with Station Way. The scheme will also complement proposals for the Station Gateway scheme and enhance pedestrian and cycle access in the area.

What we are working on now

A key executive decision in May 2021 has awarded the contract to VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd. The Project Team have now finalised the detailed design and mobilisation works are due to start the week beginning 21 June 2021. View our FAQs document below for more details about the phasing of the works.

Public engagement

A public exhibition took place between 6 June and 16 June 2018 in Crawley town centre. Engagement has now concluded and you can read our report below.
