Apply to work on the highway

Apply to work on a public highway in West Sussex.

You must apply to work or to set out any barriers or traffic management on a highway owned by the County Council.

Before starting any proposed works, we require:

a minimum of 10 working days notice for any works with a duration of 10 days or less
three months notice for any works that are over 10 days in duration or require a road closure.

All works will be subject to coordination and the road network being free to provide road space.

Any work that takes place on the highway requires public liability insurance cover of £10 million.
