If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can also arrange for a free Safe and Well Visit carried out by West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS).

Managing a high-rise residential building

The Fire Safety Residential Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (Residential PEEPs) comes in to force on 6 April 2026.

The regulations apply to the following buildings:

  • all high-rise residential buildings have 2 or more homes and are at least 18 metres tall or have at least 7 storeys
  • all multi-residential buildings that are more than 11 metres tall (usually 5 storeys or more) and use a simultaneous evacuation strategy

WSFRS requires all responsible persons with residents that have an RPEEP to place the information within a secure information box (SIB) at the building.

High-rise residential buildings are already required to have a SIB installed under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022

This page will be updated in the coming weeks to provide all responsible persons with further details of how they should comply with the regulations within West Sussex.
