We are committed to working with our suppliers to explore and develop carbon reduction strategies on both forthcoming projects and existing contracts. In line with our Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, we are working to improve data on our supply chain related emissions and establish reduction targets. To achieve this, we require our key suppliers to share their emissions data with us.
Climate Essentials - Carbon Calculator
The council are working with Climate Essentials, using their carbon management platform to support this supply chain focussed challenge. Climate Essentials helps organisations measure, track and reduce their carbon emissions and set a net-zero target.
More information is detailed in this video.
Eligible suppliers will be contacted with registration details and a welcome pack to help them to get the best results from the platform. Initially, our top 250 spend suppliers are being invited to use the Climate Essentials carbon calculator - this is free of charge.
The platform provides a great opportunity for organisations that do not currently report on their carbon emissions. For those that already report their emissions elsewhere, there is an easy mechanism to upload that data to the Climate Essentials platform.
Suppliers will benefit from support from Climate Essentials experts and gain access to a New Zero Community with free resources and webinars. The platform also allows users to generate reports for internal reporting purposes.
