County council election

The West Sussex County Council election is taking place on Thursday 7 May 2026.

Some areas in the county will have a combined poll. This means voters will elect both West Sussex county councillors and their district or borough councillors.

We will publish the notices of election for the county council here on 30 March 2026. We will also share the full timetable soon.

All elections are administered by district and borough councils.

Electoral nominations

On Friday 10 April 2026, we will publish nominations of candidates and their election agents for the county council. This includes each candidate's name and if they represent a political party.

We cannot publish more about candidates, such as manifesto details or links to political party websites, because of election rules.

The election will take place on Thursday 7 May 2026.

See the areas that the 70 councillors represent by viewing the West Sussex electoral division maps.

To find your division, use our postcode search.

Election results

We will publish the results for each county council electoral division here on Friday 8 May 2026.

On these pages we will give:

  • the results of each division in the county
  • details of the overall results

The last full county council election took place in 2021. View the results of previous elections.
