Smallholdings

How to find out when a County Council smallholding becomes available.

A smallholding is an area of land bigger than a garden and smaller than a farm, used for productive agriculture or forestry.

The County Council has a small number of smallholdings, most of which are located near the coast. The majority are horticultural, though there are some agricultural holdings within our portfolio.

All are currently leased either to individuals or under farm tenancy agreements and managed by Strutt & Parker

It is not possible for prospective applicants to be placed on a waiting list. We advertise any that become available in local newspapers, and nationally in publications such as Farmers Weekly.
