Career progression and development

“There are always new opportunities that come up and we are encouraged and supported to go for those and develop our professional skills.”

Rosa
Educational Psychologist

Continual professional development is very important to the educational psychology service, and we support our Educational Psychologists to continue to learn and develop throughout their career.

We value our Educational Psychologists and invest in their skills, experience and qualifications. We're proud that Educational Psychologists have gone on to achieve enhanced posts as Senior Educational Psychologists in our own local authority and in other counties.

Per year, the educational psychology service provides eight days of Continuing Personal Development (CPD) for all Educational Psychologists and up to five days of self-directed CPD for full time Educational Psychologists. CPD occurs at individual, group, team and service levels.

In addition, Educational Psychologists receive an induction package, supervision from a Senior Educational Psychologist, peer supervision and regular team meetings.

The service is keen to develop the next generation of Educational Psychologists. We have Assistant Psychologists and support years one, two and three Trainee Educational Psychologist placements.

Educational Psychologists are given the opportunity to develop skills and interest with service wide initiatives.
