Information on the significant improvements we’ve made.
Here at West Sussex County Council, we are ambitious for our children and our workforce. We are committed to continuing to improve our services for the children and families we support in West Sussex.
We are committed to improving our services for the children and families we support in West Sussex. In May 2023 Ofsted inspectors praised West Sussex County Council’s Children’s Services for its ‘relentless approach to improving practice’, giving the service an overall rating of ‘requires improvement’, with ‘good’ judgements for children in care and leadership and management.
The judgements on children needing help and protection and children leaving care are that they ‘require improvement to be good’. Inspectors recognised the ‘strong, determined and cohesive leadership team’ who have made significant improvements since 2019 and their commitment and focus to make further improvements.
We have created the right environment where good social work can flourish, with the correct structure and support in place to ensure this happens.
To fully deliver on our on-going commitment, we need more great social workers like you to join us and be part of the positive improvement journey already taking place and help shape the way we work in the future.
