The County Council plans and procures transport services to and from various establishments within and outside of West Sussex.
Service users are from some of the most vulnerable groups in West Sussex and may have learning difficulties, visual impairment and behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. The scope of services include but are not limited to:
- mainstream school transport
- Special Education Needs or Disability (SEND) transport
- Adult Services transport
- secure vehicles and medical transfer.
Some service users require passenger assistants, parents or school staff to accompany them on journeys. Vehicles required include:
- taxis
- standard minibuses
- wheelchair accessible vehicles
- coaches
- secure vehicles
- non-emergency ambulances.
Transport services may be required to run on a daily, weekly, or fortnightly basis depending on service user requirements.
The Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) will be split into the following categories:
- Category 1 - Vehicles with up to 8 passenger seats
- Category 2 - Vehicles with 9 passenger seats and above
- Category 3 - Specialist transport vehicles.
The DPS opened for requests to participate from 2 May 2022 and is anticipated to be open for a period of up to five years up to 2 May 2027.
