Statement of Community Involvement

View our policy for involving others in the preparation of local plans and supplementary documents.

The County Council's Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) policy identifies how others can be actively involved in preparing the documents to be included in:

The preparation of documents has to comply with the adopted SCI. Failure to comply could mean that an inspector may recommend that a draft document is withdrawn.

Our SCI was first adopted in March 2007. Since then, changes have been made to the plan-making process by the Government. The County Council has also made improvements about how we deal with planning applications.

A new SCI was formally adopted in June 2012 which addresses these changes. However, we have not made any changes to the principles and approaches established in the adopted SCI first review of 2007.
