Risk management strategy

The County Council’s approach to risk management.

Risk management allows the County Council to be proactive in anticipating and managing problems, rather than reacting when they arise. It also helps inform our integrated business planning, performance management and budgeting processes.

This enables the council to take the difficult decisions on where to focus its efforts and limited resources to most effectively deliver the priorities set out in Our Council Plan.

Our Risk Management Strategy is the responsibility of the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team. Use and operation of the strategy and approach to risk management is overseen by the Cabinet.

The Regulation, Audit and Accounts Committee is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the council’s approach to risk management, and it carries out an annual review of the strategy.
