Code of Governance

The Code of Governance sets out the council’s approach to delivering good governance.

The County Council is responsible for ensuring that its business is conducted according to the law and proper standards. It is also responsible for ensuring that public money is safeguarded, properly accounted for and used efficiently and effectively.

To do so, the council needs proper arrangements in place for the governance of its business and for the management of its assets and resources. The Code of Governance sets out how it does this and ensures its governance arrangements are clear and available for scrutiny.

An annual report details how effectively the council has carried out these responsibilities, as set out in the Annual Governance Statement.
