From stricter building regulations to extreme weather impacting builds, sustainability is changing the fabric of the construction sector.

With net zero enshrined in UK law, there’s no question the industry is at the beginning of a once-in-a-lifetime transformation.

This event, exclusively for construction professionals in West Sussex, will give you a solid foundation in how the industry is shaping up to meet the challenge and help keep you ahead of the curve.

Hosted at Thakeham’s new 'Woodgate' housing development in Pease Pottage, you’ll hear from construction sustainability experts working at the forefront of the sector. Thakeham are taking an industry-leading approach to delivering zero carbon homes, with ambitions far in advance of government targets.

    You'll learn about:

    • how sustainability drivers in local planning will impact construction
    • what you need to know about the upcoming mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain legislation
    • how reducing on-site waste will cut your costs as well as help you meet environmental targets
    • future innovations in construction materials, such as low carbon concrete
    • how a wetter climate with more extreme weather events could impact your ability to complete jobs on time and budget, and what we can do to mitigate that risk
    • how investment in immersive learning is helping the industry address green skills challenges and provide a pipeline of local talent.

    You'll hear from:

    • Josie Cadwallader-Hughes, Head of Sustainability, Thakeham Homes (host)
    • Tony Hobbs, Managing Director, Southern Sheeting
    • Dean Wynter, Vice Principal, Crawley College

More speakers to be announced soon!

There will be ample time for networking and breakfast, and refreshments will be provided.
