Get help to find work

Unlocking possibilities, finding you sustainable work and empowering your career.

If you are out of work, you can get up to 12 months of one-to-one support from an employment advisor to help you find a job. 

They will:

  • assess your skills and work interests
  • create a plan based on your goals
  • help you find jobs and contact employers
  • give advice if you want to work for yourself
  • support you as you start work

If you are already working, but at risk of losing your job due to your circumstances, you can get up to 4 months of support. 

This support can include:

  • mentoring to help you to develop coping strategies
  • assistance when communicating with your employer
  • support in agreeing on reasonable workplace adjustments

Who can apply

To apply for Connect to Work, you will need to:

  • be 18 years old or over
  • live in West Sussex
  • be either unemployed or at risk of losing your job
  • have a physical or mental health condition or disability
  • have a barrier to employment, such as being:
    • a carer or former carer
    • homeless
    • in care or have been in care
    • a refugee, resettled Afghan, or on the Homes for Ukrainian Scheme
    • a victim survivor of domestic violence or abuse
    • a person who has been forced into modern slavery
    • involved in or at risk of being involved in serious violence
    • a member or former member of His Majesty’s Armed Forces, or their partners
    • a person with drug or alcohol dependency
    • a person with a lived experience of the criminal justice system

Jasmine

Jasmine developed a functional neurological disorder that causes seizures after a family bereavement. She spent a year applying for jobs and being rejected before joining the Connect to Work programme.

She has now been offered her first job since diagnosis and is really looking forward to the independence and stability this will bring.
