Guaranteed Interview Scheme

Scheme to support veterans/service leavers, care leavers and those with a disability.

West Sussex County Council is committed to enhancing employment opportunities for veterans/service leavers, care leavers and those with a disability. One way of doing this is through our Guaranteed Interview Scheme.

Under the scheme, if you meet the essential criteria as defined in the relevant job description, you will be automatically invited to interview. If you wish to be considered under this scheme, please indicate this when completing your application form.

The scheme is not a guaranteed job and selection procedures will ensure the best candidate is appointed, based on objective criteria in the job description.

Veterans/service leavers

We recognise that veterans/service leavers can find making the transition to civilian life challenging, particularly in finding and securing lasting employment. As a veteran and service leaver friendly employer, we encourage and welcome applications from people who have served in the armed forces.

To be eligible for the scheme, you will need to be due to leave the armed forces within 12 weeks or have left within the last five years.

The scheme supports our pledge within the Armed Forces Covenant.

Care leavers

We encourage and welcome applications from care leavers and recognise the valuable skills and perspectives they can bring to our organisation.

We appreciate that gaining employment and starting a career as a young person can be challenging and sometimes this can be even more difficult for our care leavers. For this reason, we think it is important that we help by guaranteeing an interview for any West Sussex care leaver who is under the age of 25.
