A message for Carolyn Carr, Economic Development Strategic Lead

“Connect to Work is an exciting new employment programme launching in our area, across West Sussex and Brighton & Hove. The programme is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and is part of the government’s Get Britain Working Plan to support people facing barriers to gain work.

Participants will come from a range of groups who without support would not be able to find and maintain work. They include young people, people with mental health challenges or disabilities, care leavers, homeless people, veterans and refugees. Through mentoring, coaching and using the Supported Employment model, the programme will help residents to find work.

We are recruiting a new team for Connect to Work. Some roles will oversee the programme across West Sussex and Brighton & Hove (our delivery area), as West Sussex County Council is accountable for ensuring the Connect to Work guidance and quality standards are met. Other roles will form part of the operational team focussing on delivery across West Sussex.

A range of roles are available in supported employment, project support, compliance and reporting, communication and engagement and programme management. We will recruit using a variety of application routes including interviews and assessment centres. Connect to Work is being hosted in the county council’s Economic Growth Team.

The programme will also play a key part in making employment more inclusive and diverse, supporting businesses to fill their skills gaps.

We hope you will join us in making a real difference for our residents.
