The aim of this course is to provide you with a thorough understanding of the prevalence, nature and effects of domestic abuse and to increase your confidence in identification, risk assessment and safety planning.

You will learn about the barriers people may experience when accessing support and increase your knowledge on where additional support and information can be accessed nationally and in West Sussex.

Domestic abuse in young people's relationships course details

Description

The aim of this course is to provide you with an awareness of the prevalence, nature and effects of teenage relationship abuse and assist you in learning how to assist those affected.

Front line practitioners working with young people, who may have or may be experiencing domestic abuse within their intimate relationships.

Length of input

3 hours 30 minutes.

Intended outcome of delivery

• Identify what domestic abuse is, in the context of young people.
• Appreciate why young people find it difficult to leave abusive relationships and the additional barriers they may face.
• Identify and evaluate how social media and technology can be used in an abusive relationship.
• Support a young person experiencing relationship abuse.

Domestic abuse risk assessment and management: DASH and MARAC course details

Description

The aim of this webinar is to increase use of the Domestic Abuse Stalking and Harassment Risk Indicator Checklist (DASH) risk assessment tool and improve your ability to identify high risk victims of domestic abuse and refer into the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) process.

• Complete a DASH risk assessment with a victim of domestic abuse, understanding when to complete safely.
• Determine what abuse the victim is experiencing and identify high risk victims of domestic abuse.
• Identify the risk posed by a perpetrator of abuse to inform decision making and risk management.
• Understand the domestic homicide timeline and how it informs risk assessment and management.
• Identify high risk victims of domestic abuse and make appropriate referrals into the MARAC process.

Description

The aim of this webinar is to support you in raising your awareness of the impact that domestic abuse can have on children and the potential long-term impact on their future outcomes.

Description

The aim of this webinar is to support you in raising your awareness of the impact that controlling and coercive behaviour (CCB) has on individuals and families. You will learn about how to respond to and better identify where there is controlling and coercive behaviour in a relationship or household. You will understand how to support evidencing CCB and the risks associated with this crime.
