Public rights of way data

If you would like a copy of our rights of way data please email data@westsussex.gov.uk and we will make arrangements to supply you with the information in the most appropriate format.

This WSCC dataset is released under the OS Open Data Licence. More information can be found on the Ordnance Survey website.

The rights of way information is provided for indicative purposes only and cannot be regarded as the legal record of public rights of way. This is particularly important when there may be legal consequences arising from rights of way information obtained from this source. The legal record is the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way.

West Sussex County Council as Surveying Authority is responsible for the upkeep of the Definitive Map under the provisions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The Definitive Map and Statement may be viewed, by arrangement, at County Hall (Legal Services), Chichester, PO19 1RQ and copies have been supplied to district, borough, town and parish councils for their areas within West Sussex.

Traffic data: Volume, speed and classified

Volume, speed and classified traffic data is available to view and download from West Sussex County Council’s Traffic Data website. This contains ad hoc temporary traffic survey sites (usually limited to one week of data) and permanent automatic traffic counter sites.

To access the website you will need to set up a user account and agree to some basic terms and conditions.

If you require any further information, please email: website.admin@btconnect.com.
