Communication and interaction difficulties are often considered under two different areas:
- speech, language and communication
- social communication.
Although a child or young person may experience both difficulties at the same time, this section of the toolkit has been divided into these two main areas for ease of use.
Speech, language and communication needs
For difficulties with clear speech, finding words, understanding what others say, communication social rules and fluency difficulties.
Social communication needs
For difficulties with social interaction and relationships, social communication, social understanding, flexible thinking and sensory processing differences.
