SEND and Inclusion Strategy
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Inclusion Strategy In West Sussex
During 2024
Ofsted and the CQC have published their report (which was embargoed until 29 February) following the area SEND inspection for West Sussex Local Area Partnership. It concluded on 1 December 2023 and gives the middle rating for delivery, planning and commissioning of services. Read the full report from Ofsted below.
During 2023
We developed a new SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) improvement plan with six partner working groups that will report into the SEND and AP Strategy and Partnership Board. We have created a web page for the SEND Improvement Plan highlighting the six areas of work.
During 2022
During the early part of 2022, we worked closely with colleagues from SEND Commissioning, health, social care and parent carers to see how our SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2019 could reflect a more holistic approach to supporting children and young people with SEND.
Following feedback, we incorporated elements of the Joint Commissioning Strategy, in particular broadening our understanding of health and social care and how we need to better listen to and meet the needs of our children and young people with SEND.
