Help if you are suspected of a crime
The police do not have to arrest you to interview you. They may ask to talk to you to help them with their enquiries or invite you to a police station for a voluntary interview.
If the police suspect you of a crime, they may arrest you and give you a caution. This means that anything you say can be used in court as evidence.

Tell the police you are a care leaver
If you are in contact with the police you should tell them you are a care leaver. If they know you are a care leaver, you may get extra support. You should also ask to speak to your personal advisor (PA).

Legal representation
The police should offer you access to legal advice from a duty solicitor, or you can ask for a solicitor of your own. Find out more from GOV.UK about legal advice at the police station.
We advise you to always seek legal advice.
