Book a slot at a Recycling Centre

Visits to Recycling Centres

You must book a slot to visit all Recycling Centres in West Sussex, except our mobile centres. See 'entry to the centre' below to find out what you need to do when you visit.

As a West Sussex resident, you can make a total of 5 visits per calendar month. You can book these at any Recycling Centre at any available time.

Before booking your slot, you must make sure you read our full terms and conditions.

We restrict the number of visits you can make per month to ensure all residents have fair access to centres. There are a few ways you can reduce your need for Recycling Centres. Find information about waste prevention and education using the links on our recycling and waste page.

Slot times

Slots are 30 minutes long at most of our centres. Some have 15 minute slots. To check slot length, see the relevant Recycling Centre page.

About booking a slot

You can:

  • book slots up to 14 days in advance
  • make a same day booking, if there is an available slot

Be aware that:

  • there are a limited number of slots per day, booked on a ‘first come, first served’ basis
  • you can't use the system if you're disposing of commercial waste

Demand is high over certain periods, such as bank holidays. To help us ensure availability, please cancel your slot if you no longer need it or are unable to attend.

Booking your slot

When you book, you must:

  • provide the registration number of the vehicle you will attend the centre in - if you're hiring a vehicle, enter the hired vehicle's registration number
  • ensure you enter your registration number correctly - to change it you will need to cancel and rebook
  • provide your email address so we can confirm your booking

Entry to the centre

You don't have to arrive at the start of your booking - you can turn up at any time within your booked slot.

When you arrive you should:

  • be prepared to show your:
    • booking confirmation
    • identification for proof of residency
    • vehicle hire paperwork, if applicable
  • follow instructions from staff for safe use of the centre
  • be patient if there are people ahead of you

For your safety, ensure you wear sensible clothing, footwear and gloves (such as gardening gloves) when you visit.

Refusing entry

There may be circumstances where we refuse you entry to a centre.
