How to dispose of thermometers safely.

Thermometer examples: Wall hanging type and a digital one

    Digital thermometers - use the containers for electrical appliances.

    Other thermometers - ask a member of staff for assistance as they may contain mercury.

    All of our Recycling Centres accept thermometers, excluding our mobile sites in Selsey and The Wittering’s. 

  • Further information

    Take out any removable batteries from thermometers before disposal and recycle them in a battery container.

    You must dispose of thermometers that contain mercury according to instructions of staff on site.

    Collection services for small electrical items such as digital thermometers are offered by most of the district and borough councils.
