How to recycle old aerosol cans.

Three aerosol cans

Most common aerosols (deodorant, hairspray, air fresheners), can be disposed of at home or taken to your Recycling Centre (RC).

  • Which home bin

    Aerosol cans can be placed in your recycling bin at home. Ensure they are empty, clean and dry.

    To check they are empty make sure you:

    • spray
    • squirt
    • shake
  • Which RC container

    Use the mixed recycling container.

  • Which RC accept this waste

    All our Recycling Centres accept aerosol cans.

  • Safety information

    Do not squash or pierce aerosol cans.

    If you have non-empty aerosols to recycle, make yourself known to staff at the centre who will ensure safe disposal.
