  • Functions are likely to include:

    • raising jobs directly into Confirm
    • undertaking audits
    • monitoring and updating Cemar and Confirm.

    There may also be some customer interaction around enquiries received by the team and supporting and undertaking site visits in relation to drainage issues.

  • This team supports routine programmed inspections of the highway for which we have a statutory duty to undertake. This would involve:

    • driving, walking and assisting with the administration of inspections
    • auditing contractor works
    • undertaking quality checks
    • management/coordination of the Lot 1 Reactive Contract, in terms of auditing, administration and data entry.

    You are also likely to get involved in supporting the Senior Highway Stewards, who raise larger footway and carriageway patching works. This helps to track, monitor, audit and feedback regularly on progress being made with schemes and overall budget spend.

  • The Transport and network operations service, delivers:

    • home-to-school transport
    • network management
    • parking management
    • active travel infrastructure improvements
    • bus priority
    • road safety.

    The role will provide technical support to the development and delivery of a range of road safety, active travel, bus priority and parking schemes through:

    • site surveys, including taking notes, measurements and photographs
    • the production and analysis of technical assessments for potential schemes
    • producing Computer Aided Design (CAD) or Geographical Information Systems (GIS) plans and drawings
    • assist in engagement and consultation with partners/key stakeholders
    • undertaking analysis, evaluation and monitoring to produce reports and briefing notes for members and stakeholders
    • project management software.
  • Supporting the team in delivering road and cycle schemes across the county. You will be:

    • preparing designs
    • assisting with site surveys
    • supporting project managers in the progress of some large schemes important to the transport needs of the county
    • assisting with enquiries from members of the public
    • processing data
    • assisting with arranging meetings with members of staff and recording agreed actions.
  • Supporting the team in managing traffic signals and street lighting contracts, maintaining the councils signals and street lighting assets and delivering traffic signals schemes across the county.

    In this team there will be:

    • training in systems related to the managing of the above assets
    • computer aided design to assist the team in preparing designs.

    In this role, as well as supporting the team in the progress and construction of new schemes that are important to improve mobility and movement needs of the county, you will:

    • help carry out site surveys
    • assist with enquiries from members of the public
    • process data
    • assist with arranging meetings with members of staff and recording agreed actions.
  • Supporting the team in the asset management of structures and drainage, the role will include carrying out site inspections of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and highway drainage systems across the county as well as preparing drawings and specifications for repair works to these assets.

    In addition, experience will be gained in managing highway assets including supervising maintenance repairs. Your day-to-day role could include working at height, confined space working and first aid. The work will be varied and every day will be different, presenting new challenges and opportunities for learning and professional development.
