We need information about you and your child so that we can check to see if your child is eligible to receive assistance with primary or secondary school transport based on low income.


Primary school children aged 8 and above may receive help based on family income only for their nearest school. Secondary school aged pupils may receive help based on family income for one of their three nearest schools. Further information is available on the Free school transport page.

Your data privacy

All documents relating to this application will be processed in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation and may be shared within West Sussex County Council, your child’s school, Euclid Ltd, who produce bus passes on our behalf, and with your child’s transport provider, solely for the purposes of arranging and providing home to school transport.

The data will be kept until your child reaches the end of statutory school age or two years after the transport is no longer in place (whichever is later) and then securely destroyed.

This Authority is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers and, to this end, may use the information you have provided on this form for the detection and prevention of fraud. It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.

Qualifying benefits include:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- The Guarantee Element of the State Pension Credit
- Support from National Asylum Support Service (NASS) under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Child Tax Credit (with no working tax credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
- Working Tax Credit run-on
- Maximum level of Working Tax Credit (no reduction due to level of income)
- Universal Credit with an annual, net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods

As you don't receive free school meals or any other qualifying benefit, your child will not be eligible for assistance with travel expenses.
