West Sussex children and family centres offer a range of activities and support to parents and carers, for children and families. Many centres are open for you to drop in and play during our opening hours.
You can also pop in, or phone, to speak to our friendly staff and access information, advice and guidance on a whole range of issues affecting you and your family.
We also have public access computers to use, free of charge.

Family information and advice
You will find hub support assistants in all our centres, either on our front desks or helping with healthy child clinics and play sessions.
We can help you with:
- finding childcare
- applying for free childcare entitlement
- finding local activities and support services
- pregnancy and early child development
- health advice for you and your family
- housing and homelessness (how to access local housing services)
- advice on how to get legal help
- personal finance and the benefits you may be entitled to.

Understanding your child
We offer a 10-week programme that aims to support parents in building positive and responsive relationships with their children. Find out what works for you and your child. Speak to a member of staff in one of our children and family centres to find out more.
Break 4 Change
This programme aims to support parents, carers and young people in building healthy relationships. It helps families break patterns where a young person in the home is:
- controlling the home environment
- being violent, aggressive or disrespectful towards the parent
- making threats.
Parents and young people must be willing to make changes in how they communicate. Contact the service for support by emailing email@example.com.
Domestic abuse support
If you feel unsafe in your relationship there is a lot of support available. Speak to a member of staff in one of our children and family centres or go to www.westsussex.gov.uk/domesticabuse.
This is a free, 12-week rolling programme open to any woman who wants to learn more about the reality of domestic abuse. West Sussex sessions are organised by Safe in Sussex and are an hour and a half long. To find out more:

Healthy child clinics
Drop-in clinics where you can talk to health visitors about any concerns you may have about your child. You can also weigh your child during the clinic and you will be advised as to which stages in their development it is recommended to do this.
Milk! is a drop-in breastfeeding support group. Get together with other mums in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. If you are pregnant and would like information regarding breastfeeding, feel free to drop in.
Family Information Service
You can find a range of services and activities for young people on the Family Information Service website. Select the 'Young people' tile to find out what is available near you.
Your Space is a website aimed at 11-25 year olds. It’s a place they can find out about all the things that are important to them in their life right now.
