You must apply to work or to set out any barriers or traffic management on a highway owned by the county council. If your works involve excavation, apply for a Section 50 licence.
Before starting any proposed works, we require:
- a minimum of 10 working days’ notice for any works with a duration of 10 days or less
- 3 months’ notice for any works that are over 10 days in duration or require a road closure
- Public Liability Insurance (£10 million minimum)
- a Traffic Management Plan showing works area, signage and any possible diversion routes
- a copy of NRSWA accreditation or traffic management qualification if works do not involve excavation
- you ensure the application contains the contact details and public liability insurance for the contactor undertaking the works
All works will be subject to coordination and the road network being free to provide road space.
