The hub will work with over 70 secondary schools and colleges, as well as a range of apprenticeship providers and businesses, to improve careers education and experiences of the workplace, helping every young person to find their best next step. The Careers Hub offers schools and colleges dedicated support to build lasting partnerships with key employers and to improve employment outcomes for young people.
The Careers Hub team members have already been delivering successfully for schools, colleges and businesses in the county as part of the former Coast to Capital Careers Hub. The new hub location will ensure the hub’s strategic plan can be more closely aligned to local businesses, employment and skills priorities.
Councillor Paul Marshall, Leader of West Sussex County Council said “The county council is delighted to host the Careers Hub to ensure that our young people receive the best careers advice and get a head start in the world of work.
“The Hub forms an important part of Our Council Plan priority of ensuring West Sussex has a sustainable and prosperous economy and helping people and communities to fulfil their potential.”
Career hubs play a valuable role in supporting careers education around the country, helping schools and colleges to achieve the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks of world class careers guidance. This maximises the alignment of careers programmes, education and skills curriculum delivery with the needs of business.
The Careers Hub covering West Sussex is a partnership with the Department for Education funded Careers and Enterprise Company, West Sussex County Council and the West Sussex districts and borough councils. It is supported by a steering group of key stakeholders and a range of the area’s key businesses and business leaders.
