The Domestic Abuse Small Grants Fund uses government funding to enable local community organisations to deliver support for local people, including access to specialist help, preventing homelessness, enabling early intervention for those at risk of harm and providing safe accommodation.
In 2026/27, more than £341,000 has been awarded to 15 local organisations. This funding will support projects that will help people stay safe in their accommodation or find safe housing, support older residents and LGBTQ+ communities, enable people to heal and recover from abuse, and offer intervention for young people who might be experiencing domestic abuse.
Last year the local projects funded received 1,547 referrals for support, with feedback showing that:
- 88% felt safer after support
- 89% had improved safety/support measures
- 100% stayed safe in their accommodation or accessed new safe housing.
Councillor Amanda Jupp, Cabinet Member for Adults’ Services, said: “I am really pleased that each organisation that has received a grant will contribute to preventing harm, enhancing safety, as well as helping victim survivors move forward with greater stability and support.
“This complements the work that our internal domestic abuse team, WORTH Services, does on a day-to-day basis in West Sussex, whilst helping us to deliver one of our key priorities which is to keep people safe from vulnerable situations.”
