East Grinstead firefighters gear up for charity triathlon challenge

Release date: 15 April 2026

Six firefighters from East Grinstead Fire Station are preparing to take part in the East Grinstead Triathlon on 10 May in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.

Mark Turner, Michael Gaunt, Jack Osborne, Kevin Wadey, Damian Hodgson, and Adrian Sadler will take part in the triathlon wearing full fire kit. Their challenge includes swimming in water rescue dry suits, cycling while carrying breathing apparatus, and running with a 90kg training dummy secured to a stretcher.

Firefighter Mark Turner said: “We’re really excited to take part in the East Grinstead Triathlon and raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

“The charity provides care and support to the UK’s fire family. It helps with any health and wellbeing challenges firefighters, control staff, and everyone working in – or retired from – the UK’s fire services, as well as their families, may face - during and after service.

“We’ve set ourselves a fundraising target of £500 and would be grateful for any support people are able to give.”

People can find out more and donate via the crew’s JustGiving page.
