West Sussex County Council is inviting people to have their say on proposals to expand Yapton CE Primary School.
A review of the most recent pupil projection forecasts shows a gradual increase in predicted pupil numbers. This is predominantly due to the number of new homes that have been built in the area.
The school caters for children aged 4 to 11 and currently has a capacity of 315 pupils. The proposed expansion would increase the capacity to 420 places.
It is proposed to permanently expand Yapton CE Primary school for the start of the 2028 to 2029 academic year, from a one-and-a-half form entry (45 places per year of age) to a two-form entry (60 places per year of age) school.
The proposed expansion would be paid for with section 106 developer funding. Section 106 funding is money that property developers provide as part of new developments to help pay for local infrastructure and services, such as schools, roads, parks and community facilities.
A consultation has been opened for pupils, parents and carers, staff, governors, the local community and other interested parties to share their views on the proposals with the county council.

“The proposed expansion of Yapton CE Primary School would ensure children from the local community are able to access high-quality primary education close to home now and into the future.”
All responses need to be submitted before 11:55pm on Sunday 20 September when the consultation will close.
