Support for my child in school
What special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or mental health support you can expect from your child's mainstream school.
How we check the quality of education for children and young people with SEND in maintained schools
The Standards and Effectiveness Team, along with SEND and Inclusion Advisors, help maintained schools improve their support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Each term, we visit schools to see how well they’re educating and supporting children with SEND. We also review school data to check how pupils with SEND are doing and whether the support is working.
If a school needs extra help, we identify it as an intervention school. These schools receive regular progress reviews and targeted support to help them improve.
