Plant pots

How to dispose of plant pots and containers.

Two images of plastic plant pots

As part of the UK governments Simpler Recycling policy, non-black plastic plant pots and seed trays can now be recycled at home in your kerbside collection or taken to your local recycling centre or participating garden centre’s.

For ceramic pots see ceramics.

  • Which home bin

Non-black plastic plant pots with a minimum size of 40mm x 40mm can be placed in your recycling bin.

Ensure that the plant pots are clean and dry (no soil or compost) and are placed in your recycling bin loose, not stacked inside each other.

  • Which RC container

Use the mixed recycling container for non-black plastic plant pots with a minimum size of 40mm x 40mm.

Use the household waste container for all other plastic plant pots.

  • Which RC accept this waste

All our recycling centres accept plastic plant pots.

  • Further information

If you have large or many plastic plant pots for recycling, these can be reused or returned to participating garden centres.
