Fire safety: Early years

Aimed at Childminders & Foster carers and for those offering wraparound care for children in the home. This course provides an overview of general fire safety, the different causes of fire and an understanding of roles and responsibilities to take in the event of an emergency, as well as the opportunity to use portable firefighting equipment on a live, controlled fire.

  • Course summary

    This course includes trainer-led presentation, group discussions and practical activities to give a comprehensive understanding of your role and responsibilities both in preparation for and in the event of a fire incident.

  • Learning outcomes

    You will learn:

    • to understand how fires start and spread
    • recognition of common causes of fire and how to mitigate
    • to create a suitable escape plan
    • practical experience of using firefighting equipment

  • Location

    We provide this course at West Sussex fire stations.

  • Duration

    The course is a 3 hour session with a practical exercise.

  • Number of attendees

    The maximum number of attendees is 15.

  • Price

    The cost of this course is £145 per head.
