Some colleges offer courses for children in years 10 and 11 who receive elective home education (EHE). Parents remain responsible for their child's overall education.
Each college sets its own entry requirements and offers different types of courses. However, all of the colleges:
- offer courses for children who are starting year 10 in September
- offer vocational courses with maths and English alongside
- require your child to be home educated for 6 months and continue in home education while attending the course
- communicate with the EHE to make sure the home education is full-time, suitable and efficient
These courses are popular with home educating families and there are limited spaces available. Sometimes there are places for children in year 11.
You can contact the EHE team for more details, including:
- who to contact at the college
- when to apply for the course
- what the college will expect from you
