Update on the fire at the Angel Hotel in Midhurst

Release date: 17 March 2023

We are scaling down our operations at the Angel Hotel, North Street, and as a result cordons have been reduced.

The A286 North Street is still closed to vehicles and is closed to both pedestrians and vehicles directly outside The Angel Hotel for safety reasons.

This means there remains no access to the following premises within this cordon:

  • Blown Away
  • The Olive & Vine
  • Midhurst Palliative Care
  • St Wilfrid’s Hospice
  • South Downs Dental Care
  • Liphook Valet Services
  • Henry Adams
  • Age UK
  • Midhurst Pharmacy

Fire officers and police will be available to assist with any enquiries and to allow limited escorted access to Age UK, St Wilfred’s Hospice, Liphook Valet Services and Midhurst Pharmacy.

There will be now be pedestrian access on the northbound side of North Street from Pizza Hot Grill and Stockley Outdoor & Equestrian, and southbound from Tesco Express and Boots.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service would like to thank the businesses and residents of Midhurst for their patience and understanding at this difficult time.
