WSCC Tax-Free Childcare Information

About

Working parents with children under 12, or under 17 if your child has a disability, can apply for Tax-Free Childcare, an online account to pay for registered childcare. For every £8 you pay into the account, the government will add an extra £2 towards the cost of childcare.
Tax-Free Childcare can be used to pay for Ofsted registered childcare such as childminders, nurseries, breakfast and after school clubs as well as holiday schemes.

What we do

  • You can receive up to £2,000 per child (up to £500 every three months). If your child has a disability, this figure increases up to £4,000 towards the cost of childcare (up to £1,000 every three months).
  • If you, and any partner, earn at least £120 per week but less than £100,000 per year, you could be eligible for Tax-Free Childcare. Visit the website for full information and to apply.
  • You are able to search for providers that offer Tax-Free Childcare using the search function on the Family Information Service website.
  • Your childcare provider must be signed up to the scheme before you can pay them.
