WSCC Learning and Behaviour Advisory Team

This is a West Sussex County Council service.
The Learning and Behaviour Advisory Team (LBAT), consists of a team of Advisory Teachers and Advisory Practitioners who provide training, consultation, signposting and advice to staff from West Sussex mainstream schools and academies. Referrals are only accepted from schools. Schools must seek parent/carer consent before submitting an individual referral for a Consultation and Review meeting (CARM).
What we do
- The Consultation and Review Meeting (CARM) is the first tier of support provided and named pupils can be discussed at this meeting, as referred by school.
- Strategies for all pupils discussed are tailored to suit individual needs with consideration to what is appropriate and possible within school resources. Interventions recommended for both learning and behaviour are evidence-based.
- Training for schools includes packages around understanding and responding to behaviour, supporting and understanding neurodiversity: including ADHD, dyslexia and maths difficulties including dyscalculia. The team manage the county's positive handling training (Team Teach) and run bespoke packages on Down's Syndrome.
