The Horizon Intervention team offers support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). Please visit the webpages above to find out more.

What we do

  • Our multi-disciplinary team consists of highly skilled professionals from social work, youth work, education and health.
  • Horizon Intervention accepts internal referrals from social workers or lead practitioners where children are subject to planning through Child in Need or Child Protection or cared for by the local authority.
  • We ask that the Graduated Approach has been applied over time and evidenced as unsuccessful.
  • Referrals are through professionals only
  • We discuss each referral and decide if direct work with a child is needed. When a Horizon Intervention worker is allocated to a child, they spend time building a positive relationship, understanding the child’s voice and advocating for their needs.
