St Mary's School and Sixth Form College is a non-maintained special school based on the south coast of England in Bexhill, East Sussex. The school caters for both residential and day pupils and college students aged 5 to 19 who have speech, language and communication needs.

What we do

  • St Mary's utilises a range of approaches to enable pupils/students to develop communication skills. Staff, including non-child-facing roles, are trained in Sign-Supported English. Our signing team assist parents/carers in supporting their child.
  • Speech, Language and Communication needs are personalised to each child, accessing a broad and balanced curriculum, integrated with speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and social, emotional and mental health support.
  • Our facilities offer excellent opportunities to support individual needs and include a swimming pool, library, sports hall, Food Tech, Science, DT and IT rooms, physiotherapy and sensory integration facilities and therapy support rooms.
  • At St Mary's, we promote working towards independence in every aspect of our provision. This means our school pupils and college students are well supported to become as independent as possible in their learning and personal development.
  • On-site residential houses offer a homely and supportive environment to live and learn for up to 38 weeks/year. A warm, welcoming and safe residential experience where pupils/students are given opportunities to do things for themselves wherever possible.
