NHS Health Visiting Team

About

This is an NHS service managed by the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

The health visiting team offers children and families routine health and development reviews, as well as additional support when it's needed.

What we do

  • The Healthy Child Programme entitles children and families to routine health and development reviews. These take place from 28 weeks of pregnancy, then within 14 days of birth, then when your child is 6-8 weeks old, 9-12 months old and 2-2.5 years old.
  • The service runs the West Sussex health visitor Parentline, for parents/carers of children aged 0–5: Text: 07312 277 163. You can use this anonymous text service at any time and we will return your message within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 4:30pm, except for bank holidays and weekends. This service is for advice and support only; please do not message to arrange or amend appointments.
  • The service also runs the school screening for hearing and vision in the Reception year of school and the national child measurement programme for height and weight, for children in Reception and Year 6.
