The Lioncare School is a specialist service for young people with behavioural, emotional and social needs which are rooted in early trauma, such as neglect, abuse or disrupted attachment. Therapeutic education supports personal and academic progress.
What we do
- Our model of Therapeutic Education embeds sound teaching and learning practice into an approach informed by theories of attachment, awareness of the impact of trauma and the principles of psychodynamics.
- The Lioncare School runs a highly differentiated project-based curriculum that fosters creativity and individual interests as well as sound academic progress
- We work with a maximum of fifteen young people aged from 7 to 16. There are four qualified teachers and exceptional levels of pastoral support for classwork, trips, qualifications and moving on.
- Young people are residents in our Therapeutic Children's Homes or looked after by foster families.
- We do not exclude or sanction young people and work in full partnership with all services to provide a positive experience for those who may have struggled with school in the past.
