Educational Provision for SEND, SEMH and vulnerable young people leaving secondary school who are not ready for a larger further education college, traineeship or employment, or those for whom a structured academic setting is not appropriate. We offer a small, nurturing, supportive environment to develop the young person's understanding of the world, whilst benefiting from a structured programme which promotes life and work skills leading to greater independence.

Wheelchair access is available on our Shoreham site.

What we do

  • We offer Level 1 BTEC Vocational Studies as well as Functional Skills Maths and English Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Our Functional Skills curriculum embeds numeracy and literacy in real life activities and situations that are relevant to our young people.
  • Personal development. Brighton Forward’s aim is to get our young people out to work and our students engage in community projects and work experience through a comprehensive careers programme. Sessions support our young people to identify their strengths and areas to develop. They learn about personal safety, E-Safety and social awareness enabling them to become more informed and proactive in their self-care.
  • Cookery. To develop an understanding of a healthy diet and how to get the best value for money. Our young people learn about budgeting, price comparison, Food Safety and Hygiene, cooking and kitchen management.
  • Travel Training. With the confidence our young people will gain from travel training, they will be able to meet friends, travel to and from college or work and explore their communities.
  • Workshops, reflecting our young people's interests, are run by experienced facilitators, giving them an insight as to what steps they need to take to get where they want to be.
