Our vision and values
Learn about West Sussex County Council's vision, values and priorities.
Our vision
Our vision is for local communities to be independent, strong and vibrant.
We focus our resources on the services that make the biggest difference to residents and communities. We help people and communities build on their strengths and achieve their goals.
We work with partner organisations to bring together our skills, knowledge and expertise. By working together, we can provide better support for residents and communities across West Sussex.
When people need extra help, we provide support to those who are most at risk.
The West Sussex Plan sets out our priorities and how we will develop our services over the next five years.
Our values
Our values were developed with employees through the Great Place to Work engagement programme. They shape how we work with residents, partners and each other every day.
Our 5 core values support our vision and the priorities set out in our corporate plan:
- customer-centred: we put residents and customers at the heart of everything we do
- listen and act: we listen to feedback and act on what we hear
- honest and realistic: we are open about what we can achieve and how we will deliver it
- trust and support: we trust and support each other to achieve our goals
- valued and recognised: we recognise and appreciate the contribution of every colleague
Recognition for living our values
Our 'Living Our Values Every Day' recognition scheme helps us celebrate colleagues who demonstrate our values through their work. The scheme is available to all West Sussex County Council employees.
