West Sussex infrastructure studies

In 2015, the West Sussex local authorities collaborated on a high level study into infrastructure requirements across West Sussex and East Surrey.

The study was carried out to assess the future needs of the county with and without a second runway at Gatwick Airport.

Two reports were published:

  • West Sussex Infrastructure Study 2030 - covering the whole of West Sussex and based on planned housing growth as identified in local plans through to 2030.
  • Gatwick Diamond Post 2030 Infrastructure Study - covering the whole of West Sussex and four Surrey districts, based on an assumed extension of planned housing growth to 2050 and the addition of two housing growth scenarios (9,300 and 14,000 additional homes) associated with the potential development of a second runway at Gatwick Airport.

The second report was undertaken jointly with Surrey County Council and the four East Surrey districts and boroughs that are part of the Gatwick Diamond.
