The inquests were opened on 2 September 2015, pursuant to the Coroner’s (Inquests) Rules 2013, rule 5 and were adjourned in March 2018 following the CPS decision to bring charges against the pilot. The inquests were resumed in March 2019 following the conclusion of criminal trial.
Hearing dates, which were then set for September 2020, were adjourned in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the inquests’ dates will depend upon determination of an application now being made by the Senior Coroner to the High Court for access to protected material from the criminal trial.
