Report a problem

To report a problem on our roads, with street lights and signs, or on a public right of way, please complete the appropriate online form below.

If urgent, please do not complete a form. Instead, call us on 01243 642105 (for roads and street lights) or 01243 777620 (for public rights of way).

  • Is the vehicle causing an obstruction on a road? Is it in a dangerous position or condition? Details on who to report an abandoned vehicle to.
 
  • Online form to report all faults on roads in West Sussex, such as potholes, footway trips, flooding, traffic signals and overgrowth.
 
  • The Highway Rangers' service was rolled out across the County in April 2008. Since then we have further extended the service and now have 7 teams working to look after the highway and carrying out jobs to improve the street scene.
 
  • Any hazard in the highway (road or pavement) caused as a result of an accident, damage or vandalism may be considered a risk to the public and could result in personal injury to pedestrians, road users or possible damage to property.
 
  • A pothole is where the surface of the road has been eroded and a hollow has formed. As the Highway Authority, we have responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the highway.
 
  • For all problems on public rights of way, which include footpaths and bridleways. The public rights of way network enables everyone to experience and enjoy the countryside and provides an alternative to pavements in more urban areas.
 
  • West Sussex is one of the nicest parts of the country but is often spoilt by illegal dumping of rubbish and general building rubble.
