Adults

We believe that if people are properly supported, they can play a full role in their community. We also believe that you best understand your own social care support needs and how they can be met.

IT system - charging arrangements

We have had problems with a new, complex, IT system for adults' social care services. This has delayed us billing some customers for services they have received. We would like to apologise for this.

Getting social care support

The County Council believes you should be at the centre of the assessment and planning process, because you understand your own needs and how to meet them. We call this self-directed support.

Age with Confidence

By 2020, half the population of the UK will be aged 50 and over. Here in West Sussex we want to make sure that everyone can adapt successfully to the changes that this will bring to society.

Care for older people

A great deal of the work we do helps people to continue to live in their own homes as independently as possible, whatever their age or disability. Find out more here.

Recovering from a serious illness

In West Sussex, local authorities and health services work together to make sure that information and services are well co-ordinated so that people who need help get it quickly.

Safeguarding adults at risk

West Sussex County Council works hard to protect adults at risk of abuse. Abuse of vulnerable adults is a significant and socially important feature of society which has considerable cost to those affected.
