Using the library

Need help using the library? Find out how to join, renew items, use our computers and all about our charges and loan periods. Also find out about our services for people with disabilities and those who have difficulty getting to their nearest library.

Access for all

We provide a wide range of services to enable everyone to use us. This includes people with disabilities or learning difficulties and those who are housebound or in residential homes.

Computer access in libraries

Computers for public access are now established in all libraries. The larger libraries, like Worthing, have up to 35 available for public use. Some libraries have a booking system. You do not have to be a library member to use the computers.

Joining the library

Anyone who lives, works or studies in West Sussex is welcome to join the library. Best of all there's no charge and there are no age limits for joining. So what are you waiting for?

County reserve collections

There are over 100,000 titles available in the County Reserve Collections. They are maintained as an essential back-up to stock provided on the open shelves in the libraries.

Library charges and loan periods

Details of current charges for stock and services, and loan periods for different areas of stock, including book, dvd and games reservations, computer access and photocopier use.

Library policies

The Library Service regularly produces documents relating to our policies and objectives. This helps us to maintain and deliver a consistent, premium service to the public of West Sussex.

Multicultural

Looking for books in languages other than English? West Sussex Libraries provide a range of non-English books, newspapers CDs and DVDs. As with all books, all non-English books can be reserved for you to pick up from your local library.

Renewing library items

If items are not already reserved by another borrower, you can renew them in person at any West Sussex library,by post,by phone on 01243 642110 oronline if you have a personal identification number (PIN).
